Mobility & Noise Protection South Germany
We develop optimal solutions for public and individual transport, the passenger and freight transport of the future and noise immission control. On site for you, also in Germany.
Transport planning also means examining issues relating to a wide range of transport modes and taking into account the economic, ecological, spatial planning and social impacts of transport.
We offer answers to questions in the development of overall traffic concepts, in the planning of traffic facilities and in the assessment / evaluation of variants and investment decisions.
Together with you, we develop noise protection concepts for traffic facilities, residential development, commercial and leisure facilities that satisfy all parties involved in the long term. Based on the EU Environmental Noise Directive and the Federal Immission Control Act, we also draw up noise action plans for local authorities in Germany and support them in their implementation.
Services
Municipal traffic planning
The development of traffic concepts is based on the expected future traffic demand and the existing infrastructure. Based on the identified conflicts and weak points in the current and future network, we develop targeted solution variants consisting of suitable organisational, operational and, if necessary, structural measures. Thanks to our extensive experience with common assessment methods and the involvement of spatial planners and urban planners, we guarantee an optimal coordination of settlement and traffic. Our knowledge and experience in the constructional and operational fields, combined with the possibilities of information technology (traffic models), are particularly valued in the field of overall traffic planning.
Noise immission control
Increasing mobility and rising traffic volumes are set against a growing need of the population for peace and quiet and recreation. Noise protection is therefore an important task for planners, not only in densely populated regions. When planning new traffic routes, residential and commercial areas as well as sports and leisure facilities, noise is one of the issues with a particularly high potential for public conflict. Our team of noise planners and traffic experts investigates the noise sources and the uses requiring protection with software-supported tools and 3D models. From this, we develop suitable noise abatement measures and carry out the verifications required under planning law. Our portfolio also includes noise assessments and support for local authority noise action planning procedures. Together with you, we develop noise protection concepts that satisfy all parties involved in the long term.
Noise action planning
Based on the EU Environmental Noise Directive and the Federal Immission Control Act, many municipalities in Germany are obliged to draw up a noise action plan. We provide technical and organisational support throughout the entire process, from the choice of procedure to the implementation of measures. Our experience ranges from simplified procedures according to a model plan to complex planning in inter-municipal cooperation.
Due to our early involvement in the tasks of noise abatement planning and the subsequent EU Environmental Noise Directive, we were significantly involved in the development of the guideline on noise action planning for Baden-Württemberg. The quality of our noise action plans is measured by the measures actually implemented and the resulting relief of citizens from traffic noise. Thanks to our well-founded planning, numerous traffic and road construction measures have already been implemented.
Traffic models
For several decades we have been operating traffic models as sustainable planning instruments for various regions. Our applications range from small-scale and short-term traffic management to overarching strategic long-term planning. For specific applications, we build new models on the required scale and with the accuracy appropriate to the problem. In order to ensure the derivation of realistic traffic models, we carry out traffic surveys if the database is insufficient. Depending on the project, we decide which modes of transport are to be taken into account in the modelling and which traffic model is therefore most suitable for the application.
Investor projects and development planning
Urban development plans can only be realised if the road network is capable of accommodating the resulting traffic. We support you in the preparation of the necessary traffic-engineering verifications and, together with cooperation partners, also carry out noise-engineering investigations. To ensure an up-to-date and precise data basis, we are also happy to organise, carry out and evaluate traffic counts. Depending on the issue at hand, we decide on the use of the various methods and techniques that are available to us on the basis of our broad experience. For example, we determine on a project-specific basis whether the proof of performance is provided through the use of empirical methods or through a microscopic traffic flow simulation.
